The point of jewellry in past was that after divorce, woman would keep only their jewelry so they could sell it to pay for couple of months rent till they find a new sponsor

To play devils advocate here, because I in fact hink they are retarded: How are they supposed to know that you don't know, if for them knowing stuff like this is as natural to them as seeing? At least in this instance, it seems to me that they are stuck in Platos cave.
