I quit my job to be a NEE (Training for a job in IT)

It's been a month, I am so bored, all I do it switch between tabs of 4chan and youtube and manga everyday, I seriously don't understand how you could do this for years.

just mindless consuming of media day in day out

You may not be a wageslave, but are still a slave to consumption. Once you drop all need for earthly possessions you can truly enjoy a neet lifestyle. Study philosophy, pick up an instrument, meditate, get big.

Right now I am in school to become a doctor. After that I will work for half the year and spend the other half in the woods, meditating and sticking my dick in trees.

The last week of NEET'ing I did, I tried shifting from merely consuming to commenting/complimenting on everything I saw or read. Fanfic, Youtube posts, blogs, anything. Didn't work for me because I was at the end of my rope (lol) for NEET'ing but might help you.
