This has always bugged me about the gun control movement. Caveat, I'm pro-gun, though not rabidly so. I have no issue with background checks and sensible legislation to stop criminal use of firearms, but I believe in the Constitutional right to bear arms. The problem as I see it is that most legislation is just knee-jerk reaction by liberal/lefty politicians to show they are doing something, anything, in the face of tragedy (e.g. school/mass shootings). Meanwhile never addressing the real problem; illegal guns and gun users. Most of the gun deaths come from prohibited people using illegal firearms. What gun law is going to stop that?

I get the idea here to address mentally ill people stockpiling weapons as a red flag for some sort of mass shooting, but that's a drop in the bucket when you compare it to the deaths by gang shootings. And so what if banks do flag the purchase? You have to register the gun anyway? What's the point in both? I mean, banks already monitor how you move your money. As little as $5K can raise a red flag, and have nothing to do with gun purchases.

you have to register

Not everywhere has a gun registration scheme

I can only speak for the US, but you have to register to buy a gun in every state. If you're talking about some loophole, then that's illegal.

I can only speak for the US but you don't have to register to buy a gun in every state. That's not a thing.

8 states don't, so the majority do on some level. And if you buy a gun through a dealer, you have to go through the federal background check. That's still pretty stringent.
