There's some cool applications to it but yes they mostly fit into the realm of novelty. I think there might be some really cool applications in physics education , you can pull off some really cool simulations in VR that can help people understand 3d spacial reasoning for things like orbital mechanics on a more visceral level than math can. But even that is something you can do without VR and be mostly more or less the same.

For most practical purposes I don't see much benefit in VR over a regular 2d screen. Some minor gaming applications maybe. Most stuff doesn't seem well suited for the platform.

Metaverse just looks like garbage to me. There's already a billion and a half make your own interior designed virtual space simulators, they're boring as fuck. Don't see the appeal over real life. Reminds me of the stupid sex scene in demolition man. Give me fluid exchange and rat meat please.

Haha - yeah, I've got an Oculus headset that's been collecting dust in a drawer for a couple of years now. Luckily I didn't have to buy it. As you say, novelty, but the novelty wears off quickly and virtual reality can't hold a candle to real reality.

Yeah.

Flight sims are quite cool on them though. I'll give it that.
