Couldn't they ban them after the money goes thru? That way at least the shelter still gets the funds? It just seems like a terrible waste, that money could've done a lot of good for a lot of people.

It's for women. Women don't matter in these people's eyes.

Nah it’s just bigots we have trouble caring about

[–]worried19[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

So all the abused women at that shelter are bigots? Good to know.

Haven't men been whining about how misandrist shelters are for a while now?

The shelter could get the money by not being transphobic and discriminatory

[–]shveya 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Keeping men out of spaces meant for traumatized women isn't discriminatory or transphobic. That's just an entitled attitude to have towards women.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

Thinking trans women are men is just an entitled cis perspective rooted in transphobia.

[–]shveya 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

How so? They are literally men. They look, act, and sound like men. Women fleeing male violence shouldn't be subjected to some guy's fantasy vision of himself when they need protection and safety from males.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Saying someone looks or acts like a man is sexist essentialism.

Good thing then that trans women are women and not men.

[–]shveya 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Do you think men and women are unidentifiable from one another? Observing reality isn't being prejudice against a person's sex. In which ways are transwomen actual women?

[–]adungitit 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

In other words: The shelter could get money if it just didn't do what it is supposed to do to protect women from male violence, i.e. exclude male people.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Trans women aren’t male though so they’re being bigots.

[–]adungitit 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

So, if they're not male, why do they need a lifetime of artificially injected hormones that their body could never produce specifically due to being male and as such, having male organs that produce male hormones, and not vice versa? Why does this "woman" who is "not male" have literally all the characteristics of a man and 0 of a woman? Why are these "women" 100% male if they're not male? What are trans people transitioning to and from?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Obviously social pressure to conform to a certain range of appearances, the same reason that cis women do the same.

Also there are no male hormones, organs, or bodies. Sex is a spectrum

[–]BiologyIsReal 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If you think that, would you mind answering my thread about how babies are made under the "sex is a spectrum" model?

[–]FlanJam 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If they're truly transphobic, I think it'd be better to advocate for changing their leadership or policies or whatever. Denying them money from a fundraiser seems kinda callous to me, because it potentially denies aid to women who need it.
