This subsaidit exists to provide a place for anyone to discuss Dixie and Dixon culture in a constructive and respectful manner adhering to the Pyramid of Debate. Websites such as Reddit have heavily censored and manipulated discussion of this topic, however, Saidit is different: free speech and transparency reign! Take part in the conversation without fear!

Dixie, also known as Dixieland or the South, is a cultural region of the United States, being the most distinct and recognizable. Making up around 38% of the country's population and more than 40% of the army, the Dixon people are extremely important.

Dixie generally comprises of the states that seceded during the American Civil War, however, states such as Oklahoma, Missouri and Kentucky are often considered to be Dixon, as well as Maryland and Delaware. New Mexico and Arizona are rarely included.

Dixon people overwhelmingly label their ethnicity as either American or African American and adhere to the Southern Baptist denomination of Protestant Christianity. It is the most religious region of the country, earning the nickname of the Bible Belt.

Southern culture is more conservative and agrarian than most of the United States, with a strong emphasis on the traditional family and Christian values. Many Dixons live in rural areas and small towns, however, due to urbanization, an increasing number live in cities and suburbs.

The Southern Dialect is a staple of American culture, being unique from most other dialects of American English, especially in its grammar and phonology. Dixon English is stereotyped as being simple and unintelligent, however, the dialect is able to convey meaning to the same degree as any other dialect, and while its grammar is simpler it allows for easier transfer of information.

Southerners typically vote Republican, and Democrats from the South tend to be further right than most. Before the Civil Rights Movement, most Southern states where solidly Democrat, and even afterwards some states such as Arkansas remained under Democratic control as late as 2012.

Southern symbols include the song Dixie, Magnolias, and Confederate flags — most commonly the Battle Flag (also known as the Southern Cross).

Confederate flags are controversial due to their association with the Confederacy and use by white supremacists, however, the design has no prejudiced symbolism. Many companies such as Walmart and NASCAR have banned Confederate flags, and their display can lead to bans on left-wing social media websites such as Reddit and Twitter. Furthermore, people have been physically attacked for displaying Southern flags by members of the Anti-fascist organization and Black Lives Matter movement.
