We used to live in Alpharetta just north of Atlanta. Most of the Atlanta pro ball players lived there also. You would see them at mundane places like Kroger, the mall, the movies, and in big box stores so no biggie. You also saw the ones that got cut from the team. Some of them had saved their money and were fine. Others blew all their money and were going down fast. It was strange to have a former pro ball player bag your groceries but it happened. There were a lot of big fancy championship rings at the local pawn shops also.

Like lottery winners. People who suddenly get wealth seem to usually blow it.

As a receiver he must have been tackled thousands of times and some of those pains just don't go away. He may have been taking pain pills, and with alcohol, that is a double-whammy on your liver but sure makes you forget those aches. CBD is good for you. BTW, 0.5 is the OD-50 for alcohol.
