I think science and the methods related to it are very good ways to study reality. There's been efforts by the groups in power to attack it and not without good reason. Ultimately, science teaches valid methods to understand the way reality works even if it doesn't claim to fully possess knowledge. On the other hand, what a lot of Post-Modernists teach people when it comes to philosophy is that what a lot of libertarians teach too: Value yourself, and your own feelings over everything else...
Needless to say how much damage this line of thinking has caused to society, even science isn't free from it, since there's subcultures related to it that follow wrong theories and teach people to blindly place their faith on it, ironically having it replace religion as a source of values.
Science by itself can't create new values, it's something only philosophy can make...
