Welcome back! For Linux, I'd setup Ubuntu in a VirtualBox VM. Use 'bridged' networking for the VM or you're in for some configuration hell.

Thanks for the info! It might be some time until i can use the main computer in my house, and I can't really use a VM until then because this computer only has ~16gb left, and I want to try to keep it that way.
