People who don’t read or study well believe God’s promise wasn’t conditional but the Bible specifically mentions conditions Israel needed to meet in order for them to remain God’s treasured people as a nation. They did not meet that condition nor are European Jews who have appropriated the culture and identity of ancient Israelite people currently meeting those conditions.
EXODUS 19:5, 6
Now then, if you will indeed 👉🏾obey My voice👈🏾 and 👉🏾keep My covenant,👈🏾then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;
19:6 - and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel
These are conditions that ancient Israel and the Israelis have not met. That is why God prophesied that only a REMNANT of Israel would be saved not the entire nation. (ISAIAH 10:21-22) Paul quoted Isaiah prophetic words regarding the remnant of Israel in his LETTER to the Romans. (ROMANS 9:27) Then later in his LETTER he mentions that the remnant has been identified and was PRESENT in the first century.
ROMANS 11:4-5
But what is the divine response to him? “I HAVE KEPT for Myself SEVEN THOUSAND MEN WHO HAVE NOT BOWED THE KNEE TO BAAL.”
11:5 - In the same way then, there has also come to be at 👉🏾THE PRESENT TIME👈🏾 a remnant according to God’s gracious choice.
Paul used language indicating that the GATHERING of the remnant did not have a future fulfillment. He didn’t use phrases like “THERE WILL BE” or “IN TIME” or “IN THE FUTURE” to point to the gathering or appearance of the remnant. He himself was part of that remnant.
The apostles were all Israelites and as such were part of that remnant. Acts mentions other
Israelites joining the number of remnant who accepted Christ. (ACTS 2:41; 4:4; 5:14; 6:7) The remnant of Israel was the total number of REAL Israelites who accepted Christ in the first century. The scriptures do not provide us with the exact number of faithful Israelites who returned to God by accepting Christ and adopting the new COVENANT but we know from the reading THOUSANDS became believers. That’s why the message went to the JEW FIRST. God made good on His promises to Jews in the first century. (MATTHEW 10:5, 6; ACTS 3:25, 26; ACTS 13:46; ROMANS 1:16)
Unfortunately or fortunately for Gentiles, depending on how you look at it, the majority of the ancient Israelites did not respond appropriately to the gospel.
Some would contend that God was pysically talking abotu bringing back his "chosen" people to the land of Israel.
That he did this in 1948. He said that all Israel will see him when he returns and will repent and all Israel will be saved. Jesus is coming back to Israel, to his people to mount Zion, to his city. He will rule from there in righteousness.
That is excluding the fact that there are no people who can be traced back to Shem in 2020. That’s thousands of of years and many generations. Not even science can get you remotely close to Shem or the Jews living in the first century. That’s why YHWH and ancient Israel employed written documents to trace lineage.
But God didn’t do that. He brought his people back to their land around 530’s BCE. Both Ezra and Nehemiah chronicled their repatriation and the challenges they faced as result. You BELIEVE God have the Israelis that land but there is no evidence that God rewarded disobedient people with land. Ezra and Nehemiah both speak about what they did to ingratiate themselves to God. Then once in the land they made it their top priority to restore TRUE WORSHIP in the land by building an altar, rebuilding the TEMPLE, and following God’s law. European Jews have not done any of that. God didn’t give them that land. All Israel does not mean all descendants of Israel nor all occupants of the land. It means all members of the ISRAEL OF GOD will be saved. That group is a new creation that combines REAL fleshly Israelites with grafted in Gentiles. (GALATIANS 6:15-16)
You must read Paul’s letters more carefully. He explains that the Israel he talks about doesn’t just include fleshly Israel neither are they children because they are Abraham’s seed. The children in the FLESH are not REALLY the children of God but the children by the PROMISE are counted as offspring. (ROMANS 9:6-8) The promise comes through Isaac and ultimately through Christ. Gentiles were included in the promise as Paul explains to the Greeks in Galatia. (GALATIANS 4:28) He parallels how Jews of natural descent were persecuting other Jews and Gentiles who have accepted Christ and became children of the promise just like Ishmael teased Isaac. Then he goes on to show how God instructed Abraham to listen to his wife and release the slave girl and her son. They represent fleshly Israel who refused to accept Christ. Paul then addresses Greeks in Galatia as brethren and ensures them that they are children not of the flesh but of the FREE WOMAN or of the promise. Spiritually adopted sons! (GALATIANS 4:28-31)
