The grand failure of the capital riot is a highly symbolic event. It symbolizes the absolute triumph of the state over the individual and the victory of the corporate elite over the plebs. Looking at the trajectory of history, one would realize that as the tech gap between civilians and government widens, the chances of any uprising to succeed would only get more and more minimal. In old times, it's easy to melt down metal and make swords etc and rebel, and you could actually succeed since the government only has more or less the same weapons as you do. The same cannot be said of the mass surveillance and heavy metal tech that governments enjoy today. It would be harder and harder for civilians to close the gap in terms of military tech from now on.
Indeed, as times go on, the masses would have less and less say. This is the age of gigantic state or corporate machines dominating everything. Elitism is inevitable. Rugged individualism is all but dead. Let the masses sink or swim. Use whatever privileges you have to attain power in whatever form and hold unto it. In the future, any changes would likely only come from within the circle of elite instead of from the outside.
