The entire plot of this movie was imagined with a WF playing the AF protagonist...back in days when America did not have any military presence (or any presence) in Asia except in the Phillipines. It's almost like a twisted, sick obessession in the West.

dont forget the Philippine-US war of 1899-1902, which gave the US a presence there. Frankly Amuricans have been plotting to colonize Asia for quite a while before WW2 gave them a golden opportunity, so this WMAF fetish in 1918 is no surprise.
