I don't know about some of these recommendations. Like don't get a BMW, those cars need expensive maintenance. And idk but I think the Avalon being in there and the Corolla not is a little weird.

The problem with the luxury cars is that wealthy people tend to sell them before the heavy maintenance/repairs start. When you buy a gently used luxury car, such as Mercedes and BMW, you are getting into the part of the lifecycle of throwing money at it to keep it on the road. Generally speaking, of course. Also, BMW has had the bad reputation for the timing chain problem the past 10 years or so.

My timing belt going is what ended my beemer, but it needed lots of work before that happened and it wasn't in bad shape... and it wouldn't have been so bad except everything BMW is expensive. The cars have zip to em. If you're not driving them hard you're missing out on the whole point of having a higher performance vehicle imo, but it's extra wear.
