I remember hearing about it a few years ago, I think on gab. Not sure why I didn't go there then.
I feel like the fediverse is a good replacement for twitter, it just needs wider adoption.

the fediverse is a much better system than centralized services. gab is no longer a part of the fediverse since their federation got broken and they decided to not bother fixing it. gab staff are incompetent.
