it's a very popular scam. a nigerian prince wants to transfer millions to your bank account, so please send them your banking details... something like that

Old scam really. Today, it seems most of the calls are Microsoft Tech support (I have no machines that use Windows BTW), IRS claiming you owe money (US), or a bank or credit card company needing you to confirm something by giving them your social security number (US) and such. The Nigerian prince scam of course morphed into different stories like a nephew being stuck in Texas for example. Sadly, the target victims are the elderly.
