They often - although not always - try to be convincing. Ethnic cleansing is not the same thing as genocide. That's a tricksy attempt at sleight of hand.

They have a border with Egypt so it's not Israel surrounding them and locking them in.

Israel is more honest about it: "Go to the Sinai Desert. There is a huge expanse, almost endless space in the Sinai Desert just on the other side of Gaza."
