Lennon would have changed his views or have been cancelled. Today's Left despises the working class.

Keep in mind what a leftist, liberal or rightist is today, is radically different than what it was/meant 30 years ago, even 10 years ago (for example, anti-fa, is fascist, violent and leftist - yet they claim to be anti-facist, non-violent and peaceful. At most left vs right protests, the majority of leftists participate in acts of violence while the right does not. They want intellectual conversation, whereas no words of peace are enough for the left protestors. In the videos I linked above, one prominent black-left-siding protester continues to pump himself up on anger, even after elderly rightists tell him they're not racists, and never owned slaves/are immigrants themselves and empathize with and appreciate the circumstances of his struggle, but are tired of the corruption too. He responded by that by threatening to attack them).

Google the "Haldeman Memo" by J. Edgar Hoover; the CIA and FBI were involved in multiple attempts to discredit/set-up for arrest, or assassinate Lennon due to his "revolutionary, anti-war, isolationist, anti-establishment" lyrics - it's all in the FBI documents, part of COINTEL PRO.

http://www.lennonfbifiles.com/

http://www.lennonfbifiles.com/fbi.html

Also keep in mind the Smith-Mundt Act - an amendment was added to it around 2012 that allowed Education systems, MSM and Hollywood to distribute government-funded propaganda to US Citizens, as well as psychological operations, which prior to this, was only allowed on citizens from foreign nations. If you're getting your information from MSM, it's propaganda (left or right).

Lastly, this song is all about how a working class hero is nothing to strive for, as it is pretty much slavery. He clearly states in his lyrics how we're indoctrinated through youth to be peasants (his words) and have our imaginations stunted through society and the system (his words again), instead of tapping into our full potentials. At the end, his finals lyrics state if you want to be a true hero, follow the path he chose rather than that of a "working class hero", or a peasant, working for kings.

Lennon if he were alive today would have nothing to do with the deplorables. He would be as disgusted by the working class as any Remainer. Import immigrants, get rid of them.

Thank you for showing me this song! I'm just going through his discography and discovering new songs everyday (he's so versatile lol). I had a music teacher in highschool who was a snobby hipster (John Lennon was his favorite artist), he'd let us chill in his class during lunch and play the music we'd like (although he'd argue/debate with me/others frequently about music, and rant about John).

He seriously turned me off from his music back then, wish I could have a serious conversation with him about it today. The FBI documents on him lead by J. Edgar Hoover is what made me check out his music - his lyrics were in some of the documents!

Burning man actually looks kind of fun. Looks kinda hippy dippy but carefree. Looks like there's a few people of age there too. I just turned 30 and I'm feeling a little too old to be doing a few things like going to Coachella or hitting up clubs lol. Also.. not really my cup of tea. But, I'll be honest.. I missed out on a lot of things in my 20s so now I feel like I want to have fun a little. I've travelled the states enough, and road trips is what I typically do for fun.. I'm a big time geography nerd lol. But now I feel like I want to be more care free and socialize like "fuck it all" ya know?

I can understand that. I like some rock bands, I like the bands for their music, but I also know that a member of a more popular rock band from the 90's had a few very violent sexual assaults covered up by the band promoter, and manager; lots of hush money paid out.

I still like the music.

Probably Black is still cool. In the latest Eastwood movie he says something like, "You're a very nice Negro couple." And they say, Negro? We prefer Black. In my lifetime it has been Negro, Afro-American, African American and Black. Yeah, life is too short to worry about stuff that changes so often. She was one fine hammer though, sayin? 🙃

Figure of speech bro, figure of speech. Aside from that, I know someone that ran in those circles, and they claim he was bi; again not 'gay', but figure of speech.

Shit, I give up, I'm not going to cow-toe to this reactionary banned word shit. The other day, talking to a neighbor, and her child, I was relaying a fond memory of a black man I worked with; I respected him very much.

The kid went into some sort of fucking autistic 'nah nah nah nah nah' as he covered his ears, and walked away as soon as I said, 'black man'. I guess you cannot offer descriptions anymore, or personify anyone more than shades of grey in this great new utopia....

My life's too short for bullshit; I've never fit in, and when you think about it, even those who think they do, are just lying to themselves, and ignoring their own self.

He wasn't even gay; it was just the look/act that was hot back then. David liked Black women always. I saw him on his last tour just before the collapsed vein or whatever it was. He was with his smokin' hot Black North-African-ancestry wife. True, he did enough coke to kill a few herds of elephants but coke doesn't make you gay—does it?! He has gone on ahead.

The history of this naming makes sense; given the uneven tone due to the warped wheel.

I can imagine someone saying something akin to: I won't be attending if you fellas are playing that same damn hurdy gurdy peice of crap.

The slang name stuck. That's kind of sad.

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

From wikipedia:

Later on, the organistrum was made smaller to let a single player both turn the crank and work the keys. The solo organistrum was known from Spain and France, but was largely replaced by the symphonia, a small box-shaped version of the hurdy-gurdy with three strings and a diatonic keyboard.

In the eighteenth century, the term hurdy-gurdy was also applied to a small, portable barrel organ or street organ (a cranked box instrument with a number of organ pipes, a bellows and a barrel with pins that rotated and programmed the tunes) that was frequently played by poor buskers, street musicians specifically called organ grinders.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the mid 18th century origin of the term hurdy-gurdy is onomatopoeic in origin, after the repetitive warble in pitch that characterizes instruments with solid wooden wheels that have warped due to changes in humidity or after the sound of the buzzing-bridge.[11] Alternately, the term is thought to come from the Scottish and northern English term for uproar or disorder, hirdy-girdy[7]:41 or from hurly-burly,[7]:40 an old English term for noise or commotion. The instrument is sometimes more descriptively called a wheel fiddle in English, but this term is rarely used among players of the instrument. Another possible derivation is from the Hungarian "hegedűs" (Slovenian variant "hrgadus") meaning a fiddle.[12] In France, the instrument is known as vielle à roue (wheel fiddle)

The real scandal was that he was banned from the pink but still did it.

EXPLICITLY BANNED!

The Glands - Livin' Was Easy by d3rr in music

[Verse 1]
I'll send you a picture of this sight
I'll send you a picture to show you
I want you to lay down the law for me

[Chorus]
Why did I go?
I had it so easy
I had a room of my home
And the weather so warm

[Verse 2]
I didn't have much fun but at least I'm clean
My suit is new, how does it suit you?
I want you to lay down the law for me

[Chorus]
Why did I go?
I had it so easy
I had a room of my home
I had the afternoon sun

[Instrumental break]

[Verse 3]
Hello Dear, all's fine
And no fear, what's yours is mine
Oh thanks anyway but

[Chorus]
Why did I go
The livin' was easy
I had a room of my home
And the weather so warm

“Please click here to submit the most controversial, titillating, shocking, interesting, and/or never before published stories that have the potential to go viral which I will publish under my own name without any indication of this in the title, and only a statement at the beginning that asks others to also send in their work for you to profit from, which should indicate to readers that every word of the content that follows has been written by someone else who will get no credit or benefit of any kind from it because all of that will go to me, me and only me. While you are working to make me a millionaire, I will be [relaxing at the beach, snow skiing with the Kardashians, coming up with other ways to take advantage of people for my own benefit, etc.]” Is what she say others are doing and should be putting on their Articles.

She implies that making money of what others Submit is evil. I feel like she thinks people are either retarded or children, why would someone send/share anything online and not expect it to circulate through the internet without the possibility of monetary gain.

She also thinks that even if someone is aware of this that its still wrong because they go unaccredited, She must really hate Christmas "dam evil doers not crediting the creator of Santa Claus".

This reminds me of the time when the happy birthday song was copyrighted, people were being fined left right and centre because they didn't pay royalty's.

On the other hand, most people are writing to have their opinions heard. The originators of the material likely wrote what they did hoping to influence the views of the writer and thus have similar views expressed on their site.

Well, they got it.

I'll say Death Note. Everything there was so wonderfully clever. It was what made me get into anime (and was my first anime after Pokémon). I've seen it five or six times now. Legend of the Galactic Heroes may be a competitor.

Biohackers With Diabetes Are Making Their Own Insulin by BillionDollarEgg3 in Cyberpunk

It's a horrible shame that Big Pharma has their hooks in both parties, the members of which really don't give a shit about their constituents, except at election time. We need to make this at home, as needed. To do so a specialized kit would have to be made and preferably automate the process. It'll pay for itself in a year or so. Processing yeast isn't illegal.

In 1923, Frederick Banting, Charles Best, and James Collip sold the patent for insulin to the University of Toronto for $1 each because they believed such an essential medicine should be available to everyone who needed it.

The original patents for the insulin molecule have long since expired, but patents on parts of the production process — a strategy that has been famously used (and arguably abused) by drug companies — remain because pharmaceutical companies keep tweaking how they make it. Most insulins sold today are synthetic analogs that have been adjusted to last longer or act faster, which is one reason pharmaceutical companies give for why the cost of insulin has skyrocketed. These changes have prevented generic drug manufacturers from entering the market.

Interesting. I guess my head is in a similar place about it. I took it to mean that the closer you get to the goal, the faster time goes. The real best moments are the ones that seem the shortest. "Time flies when you're having fun"

And maybe when time is flying, that's a sign you're doing something right. I still don't really know though, it's a strange song when you really analyze it.

To me it means that goals aren't acheivable, as soon as you think you have it made it turns out you don't. Or we're always 20 minutes from death. Or the grass is always greener. Okay I have no idea :D
