AI seems to go through waves every few decades where they think they've figured it out and are on the cusp of a human-level intelligence, and then it takes 10 years to pan out, and the results are about 1/10th of the hype. But then a new tech is discovered and the cycle repeats. We are getting closer, but it may be like the year 2100 before we even come close to anything human-like. Or it may just end up being impossible for various reasons, who knows.

Let's be hopeful that it'll live up to the hype, but account for A.I missing the mark.
