Maybe back in the 70's, but things have changed.

It now depends.

Small businesses can/do suffer.

Larger corporatations get bailouts and subsidies. The Banksters and politicians bail them out.

That's very true unfortunately. But people attribute this to capitalism, when it really is an effect of the state, which is in it's nature a socialist concept, as it relies on the forced redistribution of whealth to sustain itself, which is a violation of property rights, the very foundation of any capitalist system.
