Plenty of dead children around the globe to take pictures of for propaganda purposes.

The journalists just probably had a performance deadline.

I think one missed reason for why this happens is that Palestinian families get a big payout if one of their kids is killed.

So yeah, there is enough death and destruction to sell the cause but when the system is set up to reward death and injury then you will have people taking advantage. Dolls aren't the worst of it, some families actively encourage their real kids into dangerous situations.
