What I don't understand is why all these people are risking so much for this b list actor. Maybe I'm missing something but why are all these people backing him up?

Don't you worry. He will be dead (by suicide or a white-on-black hate crime) and 'forgotten' by the media well before campaign season.

i doubt anything happens. not sure if kamala harris wins the primary but this won't matter to her. They will look at this as a plus for her. conservatives hate her for this but they weren't going to support her anyway.
