Tyson likes to play to the consensus. It's fine if you go out and admit that "majority of scientists say this" but that doesn't necessarily mean they are right. He has a tendency to go off on his guests for questioning scientific "dogma" while saying himself that science is all about asking questions.

Course he's not a scientist, he's a public speaker, he's just going about reading the popsci stuff.

Black holes and shit are cool but he can talk about how there's a singularity inside one but you'll break his mind when you go off script and question about how a singularity can form in a finite time when it takes an infinite amount of time to cross an event horizon due to time dilation. So it is reasonable to assume the model is just that, and the reality is neither can exist. And that such things are merely "almost black holes" barely but not quite at the point, forever. But you won't see popsci taking that point much. Most scientists just agree with the singularity model cause that's what the math works out too. But is it congruent with reality?
