OpenDNS cured my inability to access those sites, so I think it's just some funky settings they're using. I don't know much about it other than it works once I switched.

I use DNSCrypt, which is a step further than just changing your DNS.

But you have to load TOR and click through captchas for five minutes to access it.

I like what I'm reading about it, but I don't want to end up with the same issues.
