It's like burning a Holocaust museum because it documents hate.

Why would you have wooden doors on the gas chambers? Wood does not keep gas in. You'd think that'd be important when you put the ovens right outside the chambers, especially seeing as Zyklon-B is explosive when exposed to fire.

More like using the 'no-crawl" metatag in your site's header.

Weird of you to have it that the ADL is "burning the Holocaust Museum" in your metaphor.

Your version is reasonable and boring. Op's version more exciting, therefore it must be true.

bobbobbybob[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

OP checked the site's meta directives. Did you?

[deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

I said I like your version better.

[deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I checked the source code, and the page doesn't use the robots meta tag. I also can't find a robots.txt file.

bobbobbybob[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

no crawl? weird that google indexes the site. Oh, that's right, it doesn't have the no-crawl directive.

archive.is is still keeping copies.

[deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

But you have to load TOR and click through captchas for five minutes to access it.

[deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I had trouble accessing archive.is until I installed OpenDNS. Haven't had a problem since.

[deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I use DNSCrypt.

NodeIndependent 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

archive.is

Do you remember when that Russian hacker captured it a few years back? I couldn't access it either, or any of the other .xx sites, then the hackers message popped up one day when yet another person posted that link. The hacker chastised the site owner for poor security and said he'd help him out. Was a funny message, but the guy probably had to pay to get it back. Anyway, I ended up going with OpenDNS too.

[deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Oh, so it was just a hack causing my problems?

bobbobbybob[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

i'm using DNS over HTTP, and cloudflare, google, 9.9.9.9. Is it worth adding others?

bobbobbybob[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I don't. that's odd. do you? really? can you capture your network activity when you go there?

[deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I don't have admin privileges on my network, so I wouldn't be able to check.

I tried to open it again and it seems to work now. Hopefully it stays this way, because a couple days ago it wasn't accessible.

bobbobbybob[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

if you 'inspect' in chrome, you can go to the network tab and watch the process

cqtz 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

Usually when it says that a URL is excluded from the Wayback Machine, it means that the site owner wanted to exclude the site or there was a takedown request. I'm not sure what happened for this particular site though.

[deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Someone said it had so'm to do with the robots meta tag, but I checked the source code and didn't find one, and neither could I find a robots.txt file. So the only viable, non-conspiratorial answer I can think of is that they issued a take-down.

bobbobbybob[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

others can issue a takedown. So a site can be taken off due to others not liking it, a bit like reddit downvoting

[deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Oh, yeah, like they do on YouTube.

FreedomUltd 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

Why aren't we getting into distributed internet? We're acting like we don't want to get out from under corporate rule.

TyranaSoreWristWreck 5 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 4 fun 3 years ago

I'm game if you are. What the hell does that mean?

Intuit 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

No central servers; content stored on users' machines. Like torrents, but more suited for quick access of pages.

shakadevirgem 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Is this the usenet?

TyranaSoreWristWreck 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

LOL. "The" Usenet. It's just called Usenet. And that's not what he means. Usenet definitely uses servers.

Intuit 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Usenet is pretty centralized these days. But yeah, good example of the tech already existing, even allowing discussions.

AcceleratedWallops 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Freenet?

FreedomUltd 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

I think ZeroNet is a good example. Currently impossible to shut down a site on ZeroNet I believe. Google it, very interesting I think.

[deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Because people don't want to download entire websites just to use them, because it can be quite dangerous with viruses and porn. I used to use ZeroNet, but stopped once I found out that just about every site had a crypto miner.

FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

So what's better? Trying to get the corporations to respect our rights?

[deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I prefer the federated model over the distributed and centralized models.

FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

The federated model is vulnerable to bring shut down by ISPs right? Plus whoever hosts your server, unless you do it yourself. And of course I can be forgiven for hesitating joining your server, since you could say any time decide that I'm worthy of censoring.

bobbobbybob[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

maybe because zeronet is really badly designed and puts people off?

FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Do you mean that the sites on ZeroNet are poorly designed?

What's better? Bitch on Gab until the corporations realize that they want to respect our rights after all?

bobbobbybob[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Do you mean that the sites on ZeroNet are poorly designed?

There's a big discussion on it here somewhere (https://saidit.net/s/censorship/comments/757s/amazon_to_take_parler_offline_the_third_tech/) . The user control of downloaded and shared content is minimal, requiring huge amounts of trust and or diligence on the part of the user to avoid hosting objectionable / illegal content

FreedomUltd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

The other poster seems to debate the issue well enough. The problems you describe says seen like problems that can be addressed. The thing I didn't see discussed I asked before:

What's better? Bitch on Gab until the corporations realize that they want to respect our rights after all?

magnora7 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I'm trying to establish common ground. That's why I'm asking you what your definition is. To tell me that "i have no idea" what you think it is is redundant. Good debating establishes terms used. Bad faith / leftist debating deliberately refuses to define terms to increase conflict.

Dumbest meme conservatives have about censorship is that censorship makes you a Nazi book-burner. Do you have any idea which books the Nazis burned?

Yes, they burnt a whole lot of books on gender, for one thing. What ius your point, other that to throw insults?

Fascism is a system. Just because it isn't looking like nazis, doens't mean it isn't fascist. Italy was fascist, too, but with a different flavour. I've already posted a definition and explained why it fits. your simple =/= is just a statement, nothing to back it up. I get that you think it is true, but then you think all sorts of weird shit

cisheteroscumNational Justice Party 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

The ADL trying to deplatform Gab is just Jews engaging in censorship to the benefit of Jews and the detriment of whites. You can call that "fascism" if you really want, but its not effective since it's not what 95% of people think of when they hear the word "fascism". Certainly they don't care.

I'm saying just name Jews as Jews. This "youre fascister than I am!" has gotten us nowhere.

but then you think all sorts of weird shit

Like what?

Edit: Lol wrong thread my apologies this is about the WaybackMachine - but same logic applies. Guy in charge of IA is Jewish and the ADL is leading the charge to censor the net

Jesus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Gab.ai is censoring themselves. Gab.ai is a honeypot gabbai means doing deeds for thr Synagogue.

It really sucks. Even 9/11 truth seekers like Brandom Martinez who protited off of two decent books about the perps and was paraded around alt. media was in fact Jewish and an agent. He called himself a national socialist and then said the towers were nuked and then said nazis were disgusting creatures and then dipped for good.

I have only found one Jew who is decent in his analysis on 9/11 and that is Jeremey from the Antidote podcast.

cisheteroscumNational Justice Party 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Gab might not be perfect but it's better than most things out there rn

9/11 truth has always been heavily pumped full of disinfo agents. I honestly don't have a coherent narrative on what happened. But between Larry Silverstein, dancing Israelis, history to-date, and what the US actually did in response, it has mossad written all over it

leftist troll detected. You tell me that I don't understand fascism. So I ask you waht you think it is, you refuse. I then define what I think it is, you ignore the definition, and double down.

There is plenty of fascist TV. All the TV is pushing the new social order : inclusivity, diversity, representation. All TV pushes the globalist utopia. All tv paints liberals in a good light, silences conservative voices, or makes them evil. All tv supports the technocratic surveillance state.
