The goal of the Trump presidency has been from the beginning to create a "bad guy" so that when the more traditional establishment player returned, he would be greeted as a "return to normal". Seeing that Trump and Biden are two parts of the same script does not make either man look good; it makes both look even more dangerous than the Trump vs The Democrats narrative suggests either of them to be. People are naturally scared to come to such a conclusion.
