Do you know this this really ain't no b******* and I've been talking about it for a minute the water behind Hoover Dam is almost empty that's called Lake Mead and then the Mississippi Rivers now doing this s*** and also the Euphrates river is going empty there's water shortages all over the whole freaking world bro..

When we run out of water there is no politician on the planet that can save you and please don't try talking about desalinization because it ain't that easy if it was that easy they'd already be doing it

And I suspect that this water shortage is making people kind of crazy crazy.

Isn't the world covered in water? I don't think we're going to run out, but we might have to change our methods. Nobody said feeding 8-billion people would be easy.

Yes the majority of the world is covered in water but it is covered in salt water which cannot be used for drinking water go ahead and drink salt water and let me know how that works for you.

This is the point where people will usually make the argument for desalinization but if desalinization was really a viable option it would be going on right now and they would be filling up the water in the major reservoirs of the world. As things are right now desalinization works on a small scale only.

Feeding 8 billion people is not only difficult but it is soon to become impossible. As the world's population have increased so have the slums of the world and so will starvation increase

Yes, what humans are good at is complacency and taking things for granted. On top of that, they go with the cheapest, most profitable option. They have a reservoir, it's always been full, so why build backup services? Why get extra reservoirs? Oh, population has grown and produce demand has increased, but we've always managed, etc, etc. Before you know it, one bad year and it's all gone. The UK's infrastructure is so neglected that we lose 3000m litres of water a day through leaking pipes, or 1.06tn litres a year. I'm sure many will look at changes in the weather and scream like morons that muh petrol bad, but quite simply, humans fucking suck at repairing broken infrastructure, and developing expansion to secure for the future, because they are busy paying corrupt local authorities and they are there to make a profit, not provide a free service. Thus, we end up with dry reservoirs and shit hits the fan. Green energy is great, as a backup. Desalination is great, as a small scale solution to temporary disruption to water supply to provide emergency suppliment to the water supply.

I can't remember where I read it but somewhere when I was studying various texts of Islam it says that in the end days of this world there will be no water to drink and there will be no food to eat.

The Colorado River is going dry which is the Water behind the Hoover Dam and the Mississippi River is going dry and the Euphrates river in the Middle East is almost empty..

When we do not have enough fresh water to drink that means we also don't have enough fresh water to feed the cattle so that we can raise cheeseburgers and steaks and we don't have enough water to water the corn and the carrots and basically Humanity will be f***** and assuming we haven't destroyed the oceans the fish will continue to live without us

And when the cheeseburgers run out, people will turn to drinking their pee and eating other people. I read somewhere that it takes 9 days of starvation before social groups turn on eachother.

On the one hand, it looks like big corporations have unlimited scope to drain resources without scrutiny, this leading us to struggle in society. Now, we don't want some supreme authority dictating who is allocated exactly how much resource allowed them, it's borderline dystopian. But is we look at the Asimovian universe, something would certainly have to be done technologically to solve this problem if we continue to grow in populous.

On the other hand, it always seems like there are those working to reduce population growth...One wonders if this is a desperate attempt to curb the population because they haven't got the power or the knowhow to prevent environmental issues such as water running dry from impacting production.

Or, and I stress this is the most likely, people are incompetent and greedy and don't give a shit about fixing the planet, so they continue to pump water into bottles for Nestle and to feed their stupid almond trees until there's nothing left.

You absolutely think like an infant child.

When I tell you that we might be running out of fresh drinking water, you suggest that we will resort to drinking urine or pee as you called it.

My solution is a bit different. I suggest that when we run out of food for the pigs and the cows that we should feed you to the pigs in the cows and we let the pigs in the cows drink your pee.

Who wants eggs and bacon for breakfast?

I can't remember where I read it

The Holy Bible?

the Euphrates river in the Middle East is almost empty

Revelation 16:12

“And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.”
