Writing bigger doesn't increase the importance. When my students start to talk while i am talking i usually use the opposite strategy: Talk quiter and write smaller. The next test then usually separates the good ones from the bad ones very easily.

Fun fact: The students that actually want to learn something then get magically nearer to the board.

Above that: Taste is never a fallacy. That is why it is called taste and usually different in different people. So i just don't feel addressed by your comment.
