The point is that if you replace the word "white" with "Jew" in Tim Wise's "Open Letter to White People" it sounds like something Hitler would write. And this letter can serve as a proxy for the sociocultural/political environment in general. Whites are the only group you can legally discriminate against and oppress de facto and de jure in society today. Tim Wise is openly accepted and embraced by the establishment, gives lectures at universities, writes columns in newspapers, etc.

The fact that whites are scapegoated and disenfranchised by the system and we have no or little means of fighting back through legal means is the "context" of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, if that somehow wasn't obvious
