I screengrabbed and shared the conversation for one at the time - maybe I still have it somewhere. I used it as an example for the sub of what kind of bullshit people engage in.

And honestly: straightforward questions. What these guys would do was some kind of Jedi mind trick, where 'Look, I'm an orthodox Jew, I'm totally on your side, in fact most right-wing Jews totally agree with you about what you say, but the problem is you treat Jews as a collective and we're not. We're individuals. Bad Jews are just individuals, it's not a group. And besides, Jews are white, so of course we have an interest in how whites are treated.'

So I'd say, "Alright. So you reject anti-white hate? You reject talk of white privilege?" And the responses would be "Well, you see, a group should be able to be self-reflective. White privilege historically is a problem, whites have dominated some people, and you have to acknowledge that and talk about it. Some people are angry about those things, and they're not totally wrong."

I'd reply, "Alright. So you have no problem talking about Jewish privilege, the negative effects of Jews? Because you're grouping whites, and you said Jews are whites, so you're part of that conversation." And he'd say, no, Jews have never been part of that, we've been victims, we've been mistreated and excluded (Yes, this was more than once the same person who just got done telling me Jews are white so of course they're sympathetic to white issues.)"

This is when I'd tell them to fuck off and I hope their grandchildren all turn out like Saint Paul.

It was the cheapest neurolinguistic programming trick: someone says 'I'm on your side. You and me, we're allies. Now, here, do this, ally, to make me feel better. By the way I disagree with you about everything and you should change what you're saying but I'm on your side.'

Maybe it works on some people? Whoever falls for it really has to be wearing a football helmet while they eat their graham crackers and apple juice.
