9/11 was the day George H.W. Bush gave the speech in question. It lacks a detail that makes it a prediction of the alleged terrorist attack. Much more on the mark is how Neo's passport expires on 9/11/2001 in The Matrix: it specifies the year, and it's combined with the theme of waking up from the illusory world. Which was definitely the point of 9/11: they create these absurd events in part to be noticed. They're signaling.

Well that’s my point! That speech announced our first invasion of Iraq by Bush Sr. Then 9/11/2001 happened and Bush Jr. used that as an excuse to invade Iraq for a second time. So the fact that that interview is on the TV while he is dating his check 9/11 is an outrageous coincidence. Big Lebowski came out in 98. I was floored the first time I noticed that coincidence. That’s a movie that gets better every time you watch it.
