I thought the same thing but the people tracking seems to work fine in asian countries and they wear masks and all look alike.

I ain't been to those countries, but I'm a frequent buyer at Asian markets in Frisco and Oakland Chinatowns. If they are anything like here, it ain't no wonder why facial recognition still works. Them here wear the mask under their nose, just covering the mouth. This allows the tech to lock on to the point between the eyebrows, and map the face. To defeat facial recognition, you have to wear a surgical mask the proper way, then add on at least a pair of sunglasses to obscure the lock on point (an added sun visor is even better).
