Hear a basic media summary:

  • A) Media can never be trusted if their revenue comes from advertising.

  • B) Media shouldn't be trusted if their revenue is from foundations. Think tanks, PBS, NPR, Scientific journals, etc.

  • C) Media may be trustworthy if they are supporter funded, assuming you understand their worldview, and political agenda. Every news story is told from a perspective.

I'd bet 2:1 odds that this generalization will work in A-B-C order for most trustworthy to least for Newsguard. It's meant to guard the news, and not the truth.
