This might shed some light... Bhutan is around half Tibetan people. On our first morning there we met a lot of schoolboys (Where were the girls?) on their way to...uh...school and when we said our hellos, they stuck out their tongues at us. Later, we learned that for young boys at least, this is a greeting. Does this have anything at all to do with the Dalai Lama? I'm not sure but he sounds gay to me.
