A lot of people are moaning about cops shooting a man armed with only a 18" chain. IMO, if you resist arrest with any kind of weapon, you're going to get shot. The thing about the chain, or any other melee weapon, it could be used to stun the cop, then take the cop's gun, and then shoot him. In fact this has happened many times. A cops' service weapon is both an advantage and a liability, but ultimately it's the perp who resists arrest who loses.

Coming from a country with unarmed police, you'd be surprised how few people get shot during arrests, resisting or not.
