Why did he have to bring a gun to confront the police? Did he believe they may have been impersonating police? Cound he have looked through the peep hole? Was he intoxicated or irritable? Was he suspecting somebody with ill-intent might show up at his apartment?
Lots of questions here, but the killing may have been justifiable.
