I feel so bad for the other people at that range. That's brutal to scar 3 other people for life because your fucking miserable. No sympathy for dude who waxed himself.

I do feel for him. It's not an excuse to traumatise the people around but I don't believe he got up that morning and thought "I'll kill myself but not unless I scar a few more people with it lol"

This is why my local range won't rent out firearms to people who come shooting alone without bringing their own firearm with them.

I guess the idea of having a shooting buddy is that in case the shooter is suicidal, the buddy can talk them out of it or intervene.

However, if the shooter is really committed to ending it all ASAP, I don't see how the buddy could help.

Better than nothing I guess.

You know what’s weird one of my local ranges won’t rent out to individual men. They can only come alone if they’re a registered club member or in a group.

I know that, but it would be less discriminatory if they implemented that rule for both men and women. Imagine the public outcry if only men were allowed to purchase sleeping pills over-the-counter because women were more likely than men to attempt suicide by ODing on sleeping pills.

I follow what you're saying. Here, the gun range itself is the difference. If for some reason there existed a "pill-swallowing range" I imagine women would see the same treatment that lone men at a gun range might experience. Gun and pill ranges both would want to avoid being lightning rods for suicides. They likely need insurance, they would face legal or economic consequences if they're a demonstrated hotbed for suicides, and they don't want their employees and customers exposed to people offing themselves. But we don't get to witness policies against women at pill ranges because pill ranges aren't a thing.

Now, if they applied the double standard to purchasing guns and ammo, that would see the same outcry as men vs women buying OTC sleeping pills.

Absolute gender equality and practical application of double standards trying to reconcile themselves within society is fascinating. At least to me. It has now made me want to see a Rick and Morty universe that has pill ranges.

Sounds like $ is the reason then.

They want to reduce their risk of suicides at the range, but at the same time still make money off individuals who are low suicide risks (ex. the women).

This must be pretty common. I've seen a few different ones. Seems they know and have a camera to clear the workers.

Why does this look more like a gun handling mistake than a suicide to me... The person is firing on the range, and aiming down the sights in the video. They then look directly down the barrel, which, in my experience is uncomfortable on a completely fake gun, suicidal or not. personally I feel like this was a complete mistake.

It totally looks like he's sucking on that barrel though. If he was trying to look into the barrel, he wouldn't bring it to his face in the way he did.

I've seen a few vids like this and its strange how the snap to the ground as if a rubber band pulls them down.
