Basically their core demographic isn't buying Bud Light anymore (I guess better alternatives have sprung up, I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the light beer market) and they're hoping to capture a new market with some cynical pandering.

Except a good portion of that new market recognises it for the cynical pandering it is. And in marketing it the way they did, they've lost even more of their core market. So all they have now are a small percentage of people spite buying their product to own the cons.

Their core demo has shrunk, but it's probably still keeping them in business. I don't think they can afford to lose it.
