Good that you've kept away from the wokeness. TIA really helped raise awareness to counter all those claims that go "this is a fringe minority" or "it doesn't happen"

I was one them. Back then I was reading posts on TiA that were from actual tumblr and I remember thinking "nah man. Ha ha it's impossible I'll ever meet a loonie like this ever".

Fast forward some years...and they're everywhere. From serving my coffee, to going to the same cinema and wifes work colleagues.

I dunno if this is just my skewed perception, but i feel that real life has become the internet. Its encouraged by mainstream media and schools to showcase the crazy 24/7 offline. All those "oh you won't meet them in real life" is everywhere especially in the art fields like I'm in.

"Oh go meet real people face to face, you will be much happier " except the last person i met face to face turned out to be a cult member. It really frightened me from meeting new people.

It's so bad as a college student... I just have to smile and bite my tongue or I'll be completely iced out from the "liberal" circles... and they're the ones who control the institution. I've been attending "gender-sexuality alliance" events now and I haven't met a single other non-trans lesbian.

Are you trying to say that you don't like ✨girl dick✨? Are you even a REAL lesbian?

More than that, it said the claim "even if it's a fringe minority, take care of your own house too. You said it yourselves, silence is violence and not calling these assholes out says they speak for you."

Well said. My experience is a lot like yours. I’ve been pretty left-aligned throughout my adult life despite the madness.

I lurked on TIA occasionally starting in 2013 or so, but only became an active member in 2018. It made me feel like I wasn’t alone as all of my friends in our local arts scene started to slide into the worst type of woke ideology. I’m frankly not optimistic about SaidIt for a few reasons but I hope I’m wrong.

This indicates why reddit's overlords wanted it gone!

It was going to happen sooner or later. Wonder when Spez's shitty goon-squad will come for Political Compass Memes

I agree. Honestly, had I not found TiA years ago, I'm really not sure I wouldn't have been swept up by the woke ideology. I'd like to think I wouldn't be, but I'm not so sure. So, thanks TiA.

TiA and the radfem corners of Twitter talked me off the ledge from trans-IDing a few times tbh. Seems easier than being a masc lesbian in the current political climate. I would have soooo many more friends if I was nonbinary

I'm also a liberal and a pretty staunch LGBT rights advocate! I think I got left behind about two years ago with "you can't change your sex but you can change gender- oh wait no you can also change sex." Scrolling through TiA was therapeutic. Not sure how long I'll stick around here- not super comfortable with all the extremist content on the platform. Oh, well... the end of an era!
