Why do you say he has metabolic syndrome? I thought that was quite rare.

Thanks. I could have sworn that meant something different, about the metabolism slowing down from dieting. Used to see it all the time in weight loss forums. But that sounds like metabolic adaptation rather than metabolic syndrome.

Seems like a Mandela effect.
