So, the electrical industry, top to bottom is susceptible to emps, solar flares, and magnetic reversals; all would have immediate, and lasting effects to all electronics, and electrical equipment; meaning no power at onset of said event.

We live in a complacent society; one in which we think life is always better having an electronic machine do the thinking, and work instead of our brains, and brawn.

The less you know, the more ignorant you are, ignorance breeds fear, fear breeds anger that culminates into that rage called 'hate'. This concept applies across many fronts.

Considering we could be knocked back to the literal stone age in the blink of an eye, there won't be too many prepared people in good standings; on the flipside there will be a multitude of people that will only be reactive, and desperate; resulting in fear, and eventual hate. Jealousy will develop along side the hate.

What comes next? I don't know, I can speculate, but I do know, our leaders the world over, seem to be setting up the perfect coming storm of Chaos.

I've looked into much of what they're discussing in the article you linked. What's occurring in an EMP, and Solarflare is that both create an 'induced force', or 'induced voltage'; you need three things to create a moving current; a magnetic field, a conductor, and relative motion. All of these things are relative to each other; meaning, a Faraday cage is a 'nice thought', but the Joules, or amps that the Sun can create can, and probably will simply melt all Faraday cages given a strong enough flare. Even an EMP could have similar effects based off of proximity to said blast; in this case, rather than the worst case scenario, it could simply be the 'cage' isn't up to par for the momentary magnitude of force induced.
Not saying it won't help, or possibly work, I just would never bet the bank on it.

A magnetic pole reversal is an entirely different critter all together, All electric generators, and motors are built orientated to the current polarity of the present field; retrofitting to a new field orientation is, or will be on par with a flare; stuff just won't work; 'caged' or not.

Do you have any further information, or are familiar with what I've stated; perhaps they do take all of this into account?

what if they are grounded?

i am a novice to the subject..

Hmmm, I thought I saw another post asking about being grounded. The earth is the conductor, it will carry that amperage. None of us have ever experienced something of this magnitude.
