Get rid of ALL your credit cards, you can't handle that. The small benefit is heavily outweighted by the costs

my birthday is in 3 days, my aunts always give me $400 every birthday. I'm going to have my cards paid off on the 28th and finally have a savings account on the 11th. I NEED a credit score. One thing I've noticed in college is that everyone still pays with cash or a debit card. My credit score is now 710. With 10 credit cards reporting positive payments for 2 years, I should have a 780 credit score by next May. That'll be the difference between me being able to take out a loan for a new car or make a down payment on an apartment versus everyone else who was using debit cards all through college.
