"Mentions himself" is, quoting from the article, qualified thus:

So what?

The essence of his speech was, “We have to be careful in balancing big dreams and bold ideas with also recognizing that typically change happens in steps."

Debating the substance of the message is what furthers our understanding, not Ad hominem argumentative fallacies.
