I've heard it has nothing to do with that guy, that is a psy op to obscure the real origin of the name, I've heard that America actually means " land of the feathered serpent" I can't confirm or deny this personally so take it with a grain of salt.

But also the indigenous people that were here were also FAR more advanced that we've been lead to believe and the settlers that came over probably didn't create the villages and farms but more like took them by force and then erased that part from the history books.
