Sign language isn't the only method of sensory perception.
Do these deaf children also have difficulty smelling farts?
Seems like a dubious premise.

Can confirm that many deaf people have had the experience of learning that farts make noise in an embarrassingly public setting, it's A Thing.

Many Deaf people have heightened senses of smell and vision.
This increased perception gives them an edge against the fart-dealing deception.
