This sounds weak, but the article explains that she was beset by a five year old and a four year old simultaneously. It's hard even for a skilled martial artist to take on two opponents at the same time. You can take one to the ground, lock in your rear naked choke, and the other one's busy kicking you in the head.

The article is wrong, read the police report. The two kids were fighting and one was taken to a time out room by the victim. She is probably one of those 90 year Old spinsters working into the grave because she never had a family. The kid probably swung a chair at her head.

The police report indicates the children were contained in a time out area before the teacher collapsed. The exertion and excitement may have been too much for her rather than a direct result of physical injury.

In Florida, there is no statute specifying any minimum age for arrest, which means there is nothing legally preventing a preschooler, even two-and-a-half-years old, from being arrested. Last year, a Florida House panel approved a proposed bill to establish a minimum arrest age of seven years old, but the bill failed to become law.

This was the most shocking part to me. I guess that gives "baby jail" a new meaning.

Nah, they need to be locked up in a mental hospital. Some of these kids can be reformed, others can't.

The problem is that teachers are punished for touching a student even in self-defense. Teachers have been attacked by 18-year-olds and fired for fighting back. I have a relative that was attacked by a student and was pressured heavily by the union and administration to not press charges. They made it clear that her career was over if she did so. This literally leaves teachers paralyzed when confronted with violence.
People complain that pay is the big problem with being a teacher, but it's really the fact that nobody cares about them except for select students. They're disposable.

On reddit, a kid made a post about child being rape by teacher or something at his school, asking for what could be done about it. I probably was the only one who said that the only person responsible for your own security is yourself.
Yeah this is maybe true for adults Jo, but young children can't be reasonably expected to secure themselves against adults.

Should we teach children to defend themselves? Yes absolutely, I agree we should, but I still think we ought to do our best to protect them due the fact that as you say, they can't defend themselves as well as an adult, especially if very young.

We are brainwashed not to fight.
