It's hard to tell from the link you posted, but I think firearm mortality rates include gun suicides and accidental shootings? According to this CDC link, the whitest state also has 2nd lowest homicide mortality rate, which would include both gun and non-gun homicide, however we can obviously correctly assume the gun homicide rate is less than the total homicide rate. If you're concerned about getting murdered, then I would suggest sorting low to high and selecting one of these white states. If you're worried about suicide then I would avoid Alaska. I've heard the long dark can cause depression.
