I think you can open mpv and then drag and drop a file in it. i am not sure.

You can try some frontends for it: https://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu-linux-tips/best-guis-for-mpv-on-linux/

I used Smplayer + mpv combo.

I meant to say that in order to use arguments like --no-border you have to use the terminal, my bad. I will look at the frontends, though.
