Remember that fight with Urizen during the prologue mission with Nero, the one that you’re meant to lose? Well you’re going to have to defeat Urizen during this prologue mission while you’re playing as Nero, to see the secret ending of Devil May Cry 5.

We, like many others, assumed that beating Urizen during this mission wasn’t physically possible, since Nero has to lose this fight for the story of Devil May Cry 5 to progress. But it turns out you can actually beat the boss on any difficulty in the game. But, for your best shot at beating Urizen, you’re going to want to be playing on the ‘Heaven or Hell’ difficulty.

In this extreme difficulty mode, everyone dies in a single hit. This means Nero, Dante, and V die when they take any damage whatsoever, but it also means that the hardest bosses in the game, like Urizen, die from a single hit. So, while we’ve confirmed it is possible to beat Urizen during the prologue mission on Human or Devil Hunter difficulty, you stand a much better chance of beating the boss on Heaven or Hell mode.

Once you’ve defeated Urizen, you’ll be able to see the secret ending of Devil May Cry 5. We won’t spoil what takes place here, but you’ve got to assume that this ending won’t be canonical moving forward with the series, since it’s sort of crucial that Nero loses this fight for the rest of the game to play out.

Oh. The "special ending" in the video. It's not actually special or much of an ending but it'll unlock the next difficulty without having to playthrough the game.
