In the EU all politicians are on the gravy train even if only indirectly so none can be trusted to work for the good of their own country.

Again Poland is currently playing politics with asylum seekers, leaving them homeless, and has banned abortion but neither of those things caused EU funding to be withdrawn. Shows those things are only important to EU politicians when they can be used to further other aims.

Some are, but in this case the "LGBT-free" regions in Poland are facing a threat of receiving no EU funding, which would have disaster consequences, since a lot of things are heavily dependent on it. So the leaders in those places rather make the decision to budge because otherwise it would be much harder to get money for new infrastructure and other things where EU money can be used.

EU subsidies (paid by taxpayers from member countries) are a tool of control.

and british people wanted to leave the EU because the EU was forcing austerity which hurts the working class. This seems similar, basically threatening to force austerity.

Three more Polish regions have revoked anti-LGBT declarations over the threat of losing funds from the European Union.

Councillors in the southern region of Małopolska confirmed on Monday that they had repealed their opposition to the LGBT "ideology."

Authorities in the southeastern provinces of Lublin and Podkarpackie also abandoned the resolutions, according to the Polish PAP news agency.

Last week, the regional assembly of Świętokrzyskie became the first to abandon their status as an "LGBT-free zone."
