I suggest changing "good faith" to "following the pyramid" or something. Posting in bad faith (trolling etc.) could very well be on topic AND adhering to the pyramid.

I gave Netflix a try when they were the only ones around and it was OK enough...

Use uBlock Origin to stop ads and RSS to "subscribe" to the decent channels.

YT is actually pretty nice when you're allowed to watch what you want rather than what the robot overlord algorithm decides.

Also, rarbg.to is rumoured to be an OK place if you're looking for a public torrent tracker. I've heard.

Here’s a good quality test for cell phone: next time you’re cruising in air at 30,000+ feet, or even 20,000 feet try to make some calls. If unsuccessful, throw that POS in the trash & get whatever the f*ck the 9/11 passengers used. Or better yet, get the phone used to chat w/Nixon from the moon!

Deena Burnet told the feds that she could see the caller ID of her husband's personal cell phone from aboard flight 93.

A popularity contest is quite different from ideological censorship.

What are some of the stupidest tech decisions forced upon the users solely for profit?

Bundled, unstoppable, thirdparty apps on 99.99% of smartphones.

Worse than overpriced printer ink, worse than non-technical platform exclusivity, WORSE THAN LOOTBOXES!

On 9/11 at 5:20 PM, the 47-story World Trade Center Building 7 collapsed into its footprint, falling more than 100 feet at the rate of gravity for 2.5 seconds of its seven-second destruction and was caused not by fire but rather by the near-simultaneous failure of every column in the building.

Regarding Guiliani's statement, I don't know man. I've been part of "Disaster planning" for ultra small situations (20-50 people) and one of the mantras was that it's not a disaster if we got plans for it. Anything can happen and it's better to be overcautious than assuming.

IMO the reporters reporting that WTC7 fell while it was still visible in the background is more telling of a preset narrative.

The interview where Larry Silverstein told'em to pull it is proof that the official narrative is fake.

After a statement like this I'm not so sure he'll be read in.

"When we watch TV, our TVs watch us back and track our habits. This practice has exploded recently since it hasn’t faced much public scrutiny […]"

I'd argue that this isn't television any more than YouTube is television. With new systems comes new rules.

My rules are that "they" are out to exploit me with tracking so I'd rather pirate content or go without.

Imagine being so manipulated, controlled, and suckered by Big Oil Propaganda that you spend your days being upset and triggered by a young environmental activist, instead of just tuning out mainstream news LOL weak minds are everywhere, on all sides, duped into arguing for oil companies & pollution

Basically, don't respons to propaganda?

Until you're big enough to create a parallel society that rivals the original, you're only marginalizing your own point of view by not participating in the general discourse.

"Average users spend an hour on FB and often check social media before they get out of bed"

I do that and feel absolutely awful about it. But it's part of my job.

People do that voluntarily?!

We really need a way to mute subs
Ian 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 4 years ago

Thats extremely discriminating against new subs and kills growth. That system HAS to go, particularly when you promote "you're subbed to everything."

Wikileaks death: Dutch hacking expert 'had kayaking accident'
Ian 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 4 years ago

After examining the image of the actual kayak (https://gfx.nrk.no/0YYIciOiuCrv_TPKW-N76wDUvrHDRL-5xpLrwN_0YNzw.jpg) we can see that it's a foldable kayak with an opening at what appears to be the back end.

I'd say that's consistent with someone paddling away from something that bumped his kayak so hard the fasteners split right open, filling it with water in less that a second.

But even if that's what happened that doesn't say anything about intent...

What's your favorite anime, and why?

Zipang, GITS, Akira etc because they're not silly.

Deciding what's an acceptable narrative and what isn't, is the purpose of the voting system,

wait wat

I thought an up and down votes on reddit was used to make users adhere to the group narrative or be banished to [HIDDEN] while the insightful/funny was specifically designed to avoid group narratives?
